Best Ever Whole-Wheat Vegan Dutch Apple Pie Recipe

This simple dutch apple pie is a delicious dessert food consisting mainly of apples. I love this perfect homemade eggless apple pie that tastes so good and wonderfully made with whole-wheat crust filled with delicious apple filling and topped with sweet wholesome crumble topping. This delicious brown pie with dairy free crumble topping is a combination of whole wheat flour, quick oats, fresh apples and other wholesome ingredients. It's a simple homemade dessert that's perfect any time of the day.

INGREDIENTS

WHOLE-WHEAT CRUMBLE

  • 1 cup of cold plant-based butter

  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 2 cups of white whole-wheat flour

  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup of quick oats

  • 6 tablespoons of coconut sugar

APPLE FILLING

  • 5 cups of apple chunks or sliced apples

  • 1 tablespoon of maple syrup

  • 2 tablespoons of coconut sugar (optional)

  • 1 tablespoon of chia seeds

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (optional)

  • 4 tablespoons of melted vegan butter

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat the oven to 350° F.

  2. Peel and cut the apples in chunks and set aside.

  3. In a large bowl mix together whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, quick oats, coconut sugar, cinnamon and salt until well combined.

  4. Divide the crumbs into two portions, press 1 portion firmly into a 9-inch removable pie pan.

  5. In another large bowl mix together the apple chunks, maple syrup, chia seeds, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract and melted vegan butter until combined.

  6. Cover the crust with apple filling and scatter the remaining portion of the crumbs on top of the filling and bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.


NOTE Allow the pie to cool completely at room temperature and serve immediately or cover loosely and keep in the refrigerator to enjoy within the next 24 hours.
