Whole Wheat Vegan Apple Strudel Recipe You'll Love to Try (German Apfelstrudel)



This satisfying super delicious Vegan dessert is a perfect and simple dessert for any busy family. This Apple Strudel is made with a combination of Whole Wheat Flour, Apples and White Flour with other ingredients and dusted with homemade Organic powdered Sugar made from Pure Organic Cane Sugar. This comforting Apple Strudel dessert with delicious filling will satisfy your hunger. It's a special Vegan treat that's easy to make at home and a clever way to use up leftover Apples. It's special, healthier and super delicious that you'll ask for it again and again.


INGREDIENTS

Dough

  • 1 1/2 cups All Purpose Flour

  • 1 cup White Whole Wheat Flour

  • 1/2 cup cold Plant based Butter

  • 1/4 tsp Salt

  • 2 tbsp Organic Cane Sugar or 2 tbsp Maple Syrup

  • 9-10 tbsp Cold Water

  • 2 tbsp Lemon Juice


Apple Filling

  • 1 tsp Lemon Zest

  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon

  • 2 tbsp chopped Raisins or chopped dates

  • 2 1/2 cups chopped Apples about 2 medium Apples

  • 2 tbsp Coconut Sugar or Organic Cane Sugar


Breadcrumbs

  • 6 tbsp Breadcrumbs

  • 3 tbsp of melted Plant Based Butter


INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat the Oven to 350 ° F

  2. Combine the ingredients for the Dough until a smooth Dough is formed.

  3. Cover the Dough and chill for 45 minutes.

  4. Roll out the Dough on a Pastry Mat or Kitchen Towel.

  5. Stretch out the Dough as much as you can.

  6. Mix the Breadcrumbs with the melted Butter until well combined.

  7. Spread the Breadcrumbs unto the stretched Dough.

  8. Combine the ingredients for the filling and spread the mix on top of the Breadcrumbs.

  9. Fold the stretched Dough carefully with the filling (watch Video)

  10. Give it a gentle brush with Plant Based Butter at room temperature using a Silicone Brush before baking.

  11. Grease your Baking Tray lightly with Plant based Butter or simply line it with Parchment Paper.

  12. Bake for 45 minutes or tap lightly with you finger, it should feel firm. The color will remain white due to the type of flour used but the bottom should be golden brown.

  13. Place it on a Cooling Rack and allow it to cool completely before serving. This can take up to 6 hours.
