My Best Apple Crumb Cake Recipe (Apfelstreuselkuchen)
You'll love this perfect Apple Crumble Cake that tastes so good with fresh chopped Apples and easy to make crumble topping. This Cake is special and is known as Apfelstreuselkuchen in Germany.
2 large Apples or 3 medium Apples
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1/2 cup All purpose Flour
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
4 tablespoons ground Almonds
5 tablespoons unsalted Butter
4 tablespoons brown Sugar
2 1/2 cups All purpose Flour
4 large Eggs at room temperature
2/3 cup (134g) granulated Sugar
180ml whole Milk
180ml Vegetable Oil
2 1/2 teaspoons Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon Salt
2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
Prepare the Apple Layer:
Wash two large or three medium Apples.
Peel and chop the Apples
Toss the Apples with Juice of one Lemon
Transfer the Apple mix into a Sieve to drain for 5 minutes
Mix again with two teaspoons of All purpose Flour before adding it to the Batter.
The easy Crumble topping takes just 7 minutes.
In a large Bowl, combine together Flour, Salt, ground Almonds,brown Sugar and Cinnamon.
Cut in the Butter with a fork until mixture becomes crumbly.
Make the Cake Batter:
Beat the Eggs with the granulated Sugar
Add the Vegetable Oil, Milk and Vanilla Extract
Mix the remaining dry ingredients in a separate Bowl (Flour,Baking Powder and Salt)
Combine the ingredients together until smooth.
Grease your Baking Pan with Butter or use Baking Spray.
Line the Pan with Parchment Paper
Pour in the Batter and give a good tap to the Pan to even out the Batter.
To make the Crumb Cake:
Preheat oven to 350° F
Add the mixed chopped Apples on top of the Batter
Sprinkle Crumb topping over the Apple layer
Bake for 35 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
